As regards the works at Santiago, the company has a monopoly under contract with the provincial government of all public lighting for twenty-five years from May, 1898, and is exempt from taxes of all kinds, while the contract for the city of Salta with the provincial government is for twenty-five years from March, 1897, grants a monopoly and exempts the company from taxes of ail kinds, and after the expiration of the period of twenty-five years the taxes are limited to 2 per cent, of the gross receipts.
